M|Replay provides a playlist editor to assemble the highlights of your recording or any other imported footage for immediate playout.
M|Replay is a software solution that runs on your Mac and with standard video devices from AJA, Blackmagic-Design or our own M|Family and it is the most flexible and affordable solution on the market.

Record HD video and play back in slow motion instantly. Dead easy and fast. INSTANT Replay is a simple and no-nonsense tool for recording short videos and instantly replay them in slow motion. ShadowPlay’s DVR-style Instant Replay mode already recorded it! Just hit a hotkey to save the last 30 seconds of gameplay to your hard drive or share to YouTube or Facebook. It works as game recording software to manually record gameplay videos for as long as you want—all at. Record ANY Online Video With Replay Video Capture for Mac. Replay Video Capture for Mac is the best way to make production quality video recordings from hard-to-record sources. Use it to record online video. Or just make a high quality movie file from any area of your screen. If you can watch it, you can turn it into a high quality video.

Enable the number of inputs and/or outputs you need and start working right away. The licenses are per channel, that you can use for input or output.

As you can use the video device of your choice, you can adapt to every situation depending on the need of each production. Get the number of licenses that you need and connect the device that suits you best to your Mac.

You can do instant replay with as little as one input and one output on a MacBook Pro or use high-density video devices for multiple inputs and outputs on a Mac Pro. Check out the recommended specifications.

Simply drag and drop the inputs and outputs to the viewer you want to assign it to, or select it from the drop-down menu. The user interface accomodates for many inputs and outputs that you can arrange the way you want. And that's it, you are ready to go.

Use the on-screen controls, keyboard shortcuts or a jog shuttle to instantly go backwards on all the viewers simultaneously. Locate the important moment you want to replay, select the angle you want to show and play it back at the appropriate speed. You can even change the input while it is playing.

All that is made to be quick and easy-to-use. Everything is available at the touch of a finger and there is almost no learning curve.

Create markers to instantly 'jump' to an important moment and replay it using the angle you want. Markers can be created directly in the user interface, or remotely in any browser thanks to available REST API.

Create clips to build a playlist so you can chain different moments, from different angles and at the playback speed you want. This can be very useful for creating a 'highlights' playlist for example. Prepare that playlist while the show goes on so it is ready to play at the end of the show.

You can even import video clips from the Finder to play in your playlist.

Instant replay program

M|Replay can be used with just a keyboard and mouse. But to speed up the controls you can use a dedicated hardware controller.

For basic controls, you can use the Contour Design ShuttlePRO, it has a jog/shuttle and playback controls are available.

For more advanced controls the SKAARHOJ XC8 will be your perfect companion. It has a T-bar to control the playback speed, a jog shuttle and offers a lot of flexibility. when working with a replay system, you need to go quick and this is what the XC8 offers you.

In addition to these, you can use Elgato's Stream Deck to add custom markers. This is very useful to quickly mark important moments with pre-defined names for example.

Send your clips and playlists to Final Cut Pro X to fine tune edits during or after the show. When you send to Final Cut Pro X, it will create a multicam clip with all your inputs and each clips will be shown as a keyword. All your markers will also be added to all the clips. Your playlists will be imported as projects. That way you can retrieve all the work that was done during the live show by the operator.

Since Final Cut Pro X can now update events, if you modify your session, create new clips or playlists, and you send again your session, the event will be updated to include the new clips and modified playlists.

M|Replay is a software that runs on any Mac with video devices from AJA, Blackmagic-Design, or our M|80, M|62, M|44 devices. The choice is yours only, depending on the number of inputs and outputs you need. With the M|8R, you can have 8 independently configurable channels.

We wanted to offer you the best solution possible that can run on your Mac, and maybe with some video devices that you already own. So when you don't use the Mac as an instant replay server, you can use it to edit with your favorite editing solution, or why not record with MovieRecorder, playout with OnTheAir Video or do graphics with OnTheAir CG.

This is a price per channel. Either in or out. So for example if you order 4 licenses, you will be able to do any combinations (4in/0out, 3in/1out, 2in/2out, etc...).

Useful Resources

  • System requirements: macOS or driver requirements may change between versions, so make sure to check.
  • Help Center: Includes a lot of useful information, sometimes not available in the user manual

Installation instructions

Once downloaded, unzip the file, and drag and drop the Application 'M|Replay' in your Applications Folder.
Make sure also to download and install the drivers for your video device:

  • AJA,
  • Deltacast (For the M|Family).

DEMO Limitations

In DEMO mode, M|Replay will burn a blue demo frame in the recorded file every few seconds, and output a blue demo frame every few seconds. That's the only limitation and difference. After your test, you will keep on using the same application, just with the demo mode unlocked

How to unlock the DEMO version ?

Purchase a license through one of our resellers or the Softron online store, then just activate your serial number in the License window or plug your dongle in the computer.

Upgrade/Update instructions

Just download the latest version and replace your previsous version. It is always recommended to run extensive tests with your specific workflow and setup before putting a new version in production. You can use a free demo version for that on a separate computer. Previous legacy versions are available from the general downloads page.
You do not need to deactivate and reactivate your serial number when updating your Softron software. Read the following article to know when to deactivate.
This software uses code of FFmpeg, licensed under the LGPLv2.1 and its source can be downloaded here.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Softron does not warrant that these recommended configurations will always meet specific user requirements. They are intended as guidelines and are based on extensive testing that Softron has done, they can be changed without notice. Hardware, drivers, software and operating systems change regularly and we advise users and prospective users to evaluate their requirements in their specific environment/workflow using Softron demo licenses that are available for downloading from Softron's web site.
* While Softron tries to maintain compatibility with older versions of Macintosh Operating Systems, it is not always possible to achieve. Because Operating Systems are usually significantly improved over previous versions, Softron must use many of the more capable built-in functionalities inherent in Apple’s latest OS releases. Failing to do so would mean that Softron software would essentially be blocked from using the new Frameworks provided in the OS. For this reason Softron’s free support is provided only on the current and previous version of the Macintosh OS. If you have issues with using Softron software on older versions of the Operating Systems, your only solution may be to upgrade your Operating System to the current version.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Always check the System requirements for multiple inputs. If most recent computers can now handle multiple SD inputs without problems, for HD, you will need a higher end computer, and for 4K, you may only be able to perform one video output.
